You'll want to play with the sliders 200Hz to about 5Khz - one at a time. Boost 1 slider at a time until you find a slider that actually improves the gain sound to you, or gets a closer gain sound that your after, return that knob back to flat and see if the next knob improves the effect.

I play high gain metal but prefer a warm, rich tone with definition, lots of low end and character as opposed to a super scooped, harsh fizzy sound.
